Via Towleroad, I caught this story about a bunch of college boys being charged with hate crimes after drunkenly gathering at the door of a gay Univ. of Wisconsin student's dorm room and yelling slurs, destroying property, etc. Apparently, this was such a fun thing for them that they went back three times. Stephen Meyer, a lawyer for one of the thugs -- that's what they are -- said that charges of disorderly conduct and hate crimes are "a blatant case of hitting a
mosquito with a concrete brick. This is as over-charged a case as I've
ever seen."
You know, I'm no big fan of hate crime laws in general, for reasons too detailed to go into fully right now. But I've also had a college boy with a baseball bat screaming outside my room at the frat house when I got outed in college. So my inclination toward these Wisconsin asses can be summed up as fuck 'em. They deserve whatever can be thrown at them, because this type of shit just isn't anywhere near rare enough these days.
Of course, this is why strong feelings can make bad law. But it still feels good to say it.
And later they call on the phone trying to disguise their voices and asking for a blowjob. Frat boys were just a mess.

"It's sad what mobthink can do."
Especially mobthink exacerbated by binge drinking.

I once had a group of ex-fraternity brothers harrass my then-roommates, when I wasn't even at home. They had to be chased away with golf clubs. One of them was one of my closest friends, pre-coming out. It's sad what mobthink can do.
